In case you don’t know, the bootloader is a little bit of code that tells your device’s operating system how to boot up. Here’s how you do it.

Step 1: Download and install Motorola USB drivers on your computer.

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging on your device, go to Settings > Developers Options. Enable OEM Unlocking and USB debugging.

Step 3: Turn off your device. Power it off.

Step 4: Boot into the ABD mode. Press and hold the Volume Down key and Power Key together for 4 to 5 seconds and then release only the Power Key, keep holding the Volume Down Key until ABD mode is applied on your device.

Step 5: Connect your Motorola Device to the computer through a Data Cable.

Step 6: Download and Install the Minimal ABD and Fastboot Tools on your personal computer.

Step 7: Launch the Minimal ABD and Fastboot tools on your computer as the installation is completed.

Step 8: Windows Command Prompt window will appear on your computer screen.

Step 9: Write ‘fastboot devices‘ in the command window and press the ENTER button. You’ll see the list of devices attached to your computer.

Step 10: Type another command ‘fastboot owe_ get_unlock_data‘ and then press ENTER key.

Step 11: You’ll see data in numbers and alphabets all mixed up together like a code. Select the whole bootloader data provided there and copy it.

Step 12: Open Notepad or Rich Text Document and paste the data you copied from the command prompt window.

Step 13: Remove the spaces from the data you collected and merge it all together in one line.

Step: 14: Copy that merged data string, open Motorola’s Official Unlock Bootloader website and click on ‘NEXT‘ button on the website. Sign in to your Motorola account, if you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one.

Step: 15: Paste the entire copied data in the Field No.6 and click on ‘Can My Device Be Unlocked?’ button.

Step 16: Select “I Agree” button and click on the ‘Request Unlock Key‘ button.

Step 17: Motorola will send you the Unlock Key on your registered email ID you logged in through. Check your email and copy the Unlock code from there.

Step 18: Go back to the command window and type command ‘fastboot OEM unlock‘ paste the unlock code and press Enter.

You will see some process on your Motorola Device and it will reboot automatically. You’ll then see “Warning Bootloader Unlocked” message on your device, that confirms that bootloader has been unlocked successfully on your device.
