Different generations of iPod Nano supported a variety of apps
Installing apps from the App Store is one of the things that makes the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch great. With these apps, you can add all kinds of features and fun to your device. If you have an iPod Nano, your ability to add apps depends on which model you have.
7th and 6th generation iPod Nanos: Native apps only
The latest version of the Nano. Seventh and sixth-generation models present a confusing situation for apps.
The operating system that runs on these models is iOS, the iPod Touch, and the operating system used on the iPad looks a lot like iOS and adheres to it. Include a multi-touch screen and home button on at least the next-generation models, and these Nano models feel like a tiny iPod touch. They look like mini-touches so it’s easy to understand that they’re running a version of iPod iOS and they should be able to run apps.
But the appearance is deceptive. While the operating system on the seventh and sixth-generation iPod Nanos looks and works the same way, these Nanos do not run iOS and do not support non-native apps. Also, you can’t get apps from the App Store that run on them.
The 7th and 6th generation iPod Nano is an app with apps created by Apple. These include an FM radio toner, a pedometer, a watch, and a picture viewer. So, these nano apps can run, but they do not support any non-Apple apps created by external developers. There is also no vacation for these models that allow the inclusion of unofficial apps.
Fifth, fourth, and third-generation iPod Nano: Games and Apps
Unlike the newer models, the third, fourth, and fifth-generation iPod Nanos can run a limited number of native apps. They also come with some standard games. These are not iPhone apps and these models do not run iOS. These are games made specifically for the Nano by Apple. The games included with these models were:
Fourth and fifth-generation: Labyrinth, Klondike, Vertix
Third generation: Ikes, Klondike, Vertix
People could add games and reading tools available through the iTunes Store (this was before the App Store). These apps usually cost امریکی 5 or less.
